Our Own Bespoke Alpine Chalet Design

During our 30 year experience in the conservatory business, we have had many requests for an alpine chalet style conservatory. Many people are looking for an extension ‘with the feel of a conservatory’ and also requests for ‘a lot of glazing, but with a solid roof’. This strong client interest has led us to develop our own bespoke alpine chalet specification.

Alpine Chalet Conservatory – Fully Insulated Solid Roof

The predominant feature of this style of conservatory / extension is that the roof is solid – i.e. tiled or slate finish, as opposed to glass or polycarbonate. The addition of Velux skylites in our chalet roofs allows for the introduction of light at a higher level, with the added benefit of a vented facility.

Our chalet roofs are on approximately 300mm thick and are fully insulated with the latest high specification foil backed foams, which are fully compliant with current building regs requirements.

Extended Roof For Additional Shelter

Our chalet roof style is an adaptation of the Swedish type chalet design, where the roof front protrudes beyond the wall elevation. This can be extended further to provide a pleasant sheltered outdoor sitting area.

Alpine Chalet Conservatories - Space Galore..!

The chalet’s high ceiling detail with its open aspect and large frontage creates volume and in turn gives a pleasant feeling of extra space in the chalet. When visiting our showroom, many prospective clients think that the chalet is considerably bigger than it really is.

Come to our showroom and do the comparison between a chalet and a standard conservatory construction of the same dimensions –you will be truly amazed.
You will experience a full view from within the chalet, uninterrupted by the cross member that is required to carry the spread of the roof loading in a conservatory.

Chalets Style Conservatories With Clean Lines – Clear Views & More Space

Our alpine chalet conservatories have impressively clean lines – your view is uninterrupted by supporting pvc profiles. And there are no opening lites –  instead we install 2 velox windows into the solid roof.

Here we give you a 3D visualisation of how the chalet style looks in comparison to a standard conservatory. The length and width are the same, but the chalet appears to be larger.

This example incorporates our bi-fold door. The bi-fold door system enables you to open up the entire side of the chalet or conservatory. However this is a bespoke product and you can opt for French doors or other door options if you prefer.

Bi-fold / Multi-fold Doors

The bi-fold or multi-fold door concept allows you to open up an entire side without compromising the integrity of the chalet / conservatory structure. Bi-fold doors are available in a variety of styles and colours. The easy glide system allows for the easiest of operation, whether you wish to merely open the personnel door, or indeed the entire folding door system.

It is strongly believed that this type of system will eventually replace the normal inline patio door market and the French door market.

Structurally Engineered & Building Regs Compliant

Our alpine chalet style conservatory specification has been developed in conjunction with a structural engineer to ensure that every one of our chalet range conservatories fully complies with building regs.

There is a requirement for heavy steels and possibly a portal framework design in some cases. Each installation will require structural calculations to ensure that all criteria are met in terms of structural integrity, wind loading, snow loadings and general viability.

As a conservatory style extension, the chalet will require building regs approval and possibly planning permission –both of which are handled by us.
